Welcome to High Ground Gardens, a family owned and operated beyond organic food enterprise in the beautiful San Luis Valley at the foot of the towering Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We are Bryon, Leah and Cairn Pike, creators of High Ground Gardens, operating out of Crestone Colorado. Our gardens range in elevation from 7,000 to 8500 feet. In this challenging environment, we have developed high quality non-certified organic vegetable and herb seeds that will thrive in all climates, including short growing seasons, high winds, wide temperature swings and a variety of soil conditions. Our true passion is two-fold; 1) growing healthy food and seeds locally in support of our families, communities, area farmer's markets and seed exchanges. We are also devoted to home canning, dehydrating, and freeze/fermenting as many foods as possible from our gardens 2) providing a catalog/website for our retail and wholesale customers that offers vegetable, herb and flower seeds at a level of quality and heartiness that is difficult to find.
We have been feeding our family from our gardens for over 15 years, and the production of our own seeds has always been important as well. We are excited to share our labor of love in support of your family's quest for food sustainability and enjoy connecting with our customers and sharing our passion for growing healthy, unique seeds.
Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace.” May Sarton
